Not that there are really any of you left to notice my return here after three years of absence, but I've decided to restart this blog. I managed to overwhelm myself before, specifically with the podcast aspect of the blog (which I've removed.) Every post I wrote required hours of audio editing to turn it into a decent podcast. It wasn't your fault; I just tried to put too much into it.
I ended up breaking the most basic principle of this entire line of work, the KISS principle:
- KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid!
The basic mistake I made here was the creation of extraneous content. I have advised clients on numerous occasions against creating unnecessary overhead for themselves--content sections they don't have the time or resources to maintain--and yet that's exactly what I did. I turned it into such a chore that I started creating excuses to not return. I should have known better, and I apologize. I feel like a doctor who treats lung cancer and then gets caught smoking.
...creating unnecessary overhead for themselves...
Well, that's not the case anymore. I've simplified this to text and basic graphics. There's just too much going on now in public broadcasting for me to stay silent any longer. No one else has picked up on the subject, so it might as well be me.
